End of Sale of MC9002/MC9062 Configurations (GSM/GPRS) and Transition to MC9094

Due to the end of life of the MC45/MC46 GSM/GPRS radios used in the MC9002/MC9062–K/S WAN configurations, Symbol has completed a last-time buy of these components, and now faces a supply constraint on the MC9002/MC9062 that forces the end of sale of the product.

Symbol plans to service MC9002/MC9062 customers for the next five years, and customers can migrate from MC9002/MC9062 to the technology refresh (e.g. the MC9094-K/S).

Symbol Technologies has introduced the Symbol XR480, an industrial-class radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader that supports today’s European RFID standards and builds on the next generation architecture of the XR400.

The XR480 is the only commercially available EPC-compliant RFID reader approved for use in Europe to provide support for up to eight read points which helps decrease deployment complexity and increases flexibility. The Symbol XR480 is also the first commercially available EPC-compliant RFID reader in Europe based on the Windows CE operating system.
